Service arrangements announced for Carol Rich-Brooks, wife of Alvin Brooks

Today, at 12:30 p.m., during the “Conversation with the Councilman” Radio Show (broadcast on KPRT-1590AM), 3rd District City Councilman Jermaine Reed announced that arrangements have been made for services for Mrs. Carol Brooks, the beloved wife of Mr. Alvin Brooks, longtime community activist in Kansas City.  Surrounded by her loved ones, Carol, 78, passed away peacefully shortly before midnight on Sunday, July 21, 2013, after a two-year battle with cancer.

"Kansas City lost a noble champion this past weekend. Although the name Carol Brooks never showed up on an election ballot, her witty grace and bold radiance was felt throughout the community. As a caring mother of six, and strong wife of Alvin Brooks, Carol embodied the saying, “If you need anything said, ask a man. If you need anything done, ask a woman,” remarked Councilman Reed.

  1. Awesome thing you all are doing. I wish they had a Ad Hoc Group Against Crime in Saint Louis? Can someone point me in the right direction? What groups can I find locally (St. Louis, MO) that are fighting against crime in the community? Thank you in advance for your support!
